NCC Special Entry 58 Notification (October 2025). Unmarried male applicants together with unmarried female applicants (including the children of combat casualties from Army personnel) are invited to seek Short Service Commission entry into the Indian Army.

(a) Nationality:
A candidate must either be: (i) A citizen of India, or (ii) A subject of Bhutan, or (iii) A subject of Nepal, or (iv) A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st of January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or (v) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India. Candidates who hold the status of Gorkha subjects of Nepal are exempt from needing certificate of eligibility.
(b) Age Limit:
National Cadet Corps candidates who include Battle Casualty wards need to meet the age requirement from 19 to 25 years as on 01 Jul 2025 (born between 02 Jul 2000 and 01 Jul 2006 inclusive both dates).
(c) Educational Qualification and other Criteria:
- Educational Qualification: The required educational qualification consists of a degree issued by a recognized university or equivalent institution with minimum 50% accumulated marks throughout the years. Students who study their final year of their three or four-year degree program can also submit applications if they achieved at least 50% combined marks within their first two or three semesters. These students must obtain a 50% minimum mark average in their degree classes after their interview selection. The interview selection becomes void if the candidate fails to meet this requirement.
- Service in NCC: Candidates need to complete two/three academic years as minimum standards for NCC service at the senior Divisions/Wings.
- Grading: The candidate needs to achieve at least a ‘B’ grade in their NCC ‘C’ certificate examination. All applicants must possess NCC ‘C’ Certificate at the moment of application since those without this certificate become ineligible.
Eligibility Criteria:
The vacancies under wards of battle casualties are available to wards (unmarried sons and unmarried daughters including legally adopted) of Battle casualties specified as:-
(1) Killed in action.
(2) Died of wound or injuries (Other than self-inflicted).
(3) Wounded or Injured (Other than self-inflicted).
(4) Missing.
Educational Qualification:
Candidates need to possess a degree from an accredited University along with minimum 50% cumulative grade that includes all year marks. Wards of battle casualties do not have to fulfill NCC ‘C’ certificate requirements for admission.
Vacancies:
(a) NCC Men: 70 (63 for General Category and 07 for Wards of Battle Casualties of Army personnel only).
(b) NCC Women: 06 (05 for General Category and 01 for Wards of Battle Casualties of Army personnel only).
Training:
Duration of training is 49 weeks at OTA, Chennai.
- The training panel will detail candidates as OTA Chennai Pre-Commission trainees based on final merit rank positions until vacancies run out. This selection is subject to meeting all acceptance requirements.
- Selection into training means candidates must avoid marrying during their training and they must not reside with their families. Trained personnel at the Officers Training Academy must complete their entire program before they can marry.
How to Apply:
1. Applications will only be accepted online on website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.
2. Click on ‘Officer Entry Appln/Login’ and then click ‘Registration’ (Registrations not required, if already registered on www.joinindianarmy.nic.in).
3. Fill the online registration form after reading the instructions carefully. After getting registered, click on ‘Apply Online’ under Dashboard.
4. A page ‘Officers Selection – ‘Eligibility’ will open.
5. Then click ‘Apply’ shown against Short Service Commission NCC Special Entry Course.
6. A page ‘Application Form’ will open.
7. Read the instructions carefully and click ‘Continue’ to fill details as required under various segments.
8. Personal information, Communication details, Education details and details of previous SSB.
9. ‘Save & Continue’ each time before you go to the next segment.
10. After filling details on the last segment, you will move to a page ‘Summary of your information’ wherein you can check and edit the entries already made.
11. Only after ascertaining the correctness of all your details, click on ‘Submit Now’.
12. Candidates must click on ‘Submit Now’ each time they open the application for editing any details.
13. The candidates are required to take out two copies of their application having Roll Number, 30 minutes after final closure of online application on last day.
Selection Procedure:
The selection procedure is as follows:-
(a) The Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) retains authority to choose applicants based solely on their preference. After application shortlisting the Centre allotment process will provide information to candidates through their registered email addresses. The website enables candidates to choose their SSB dates according to the initial first come first serve policy before the Centre allocates the selection centers. Following the selection centre assignment phase it orders candidates before delivering the appointment.
(b) The SSB screening will start with only those candidates who have passed all eligibility requirements at one of the Selection Centres located in Allahabad(UP), Bhopal(MP), Bangalore (Karnataka) and Kapurthala (PB). The Selection Centre generates SSB interview call up letters both through email and SMS which will be delivered to the candidates’ registered communication channels. The Selection Centre assignment remains at the discretion of Directorate General of Recruiting IHQ of MoD (Army) with no changes possible in this regard.
(c) Candidates will be put through two stage selection procedure:-
The candidates who succeed at Stage I will proceed to Stage II. The assessment in stage I fails to clear candidates who will receive their return back the same day. The SSB recruitment process runs for five days and all students can access complete interview information through www.joinindianarmy.nic.in which is the official website of Directorate General of Recruiting. Medical testing awaits all candidates moving ahead from Stage II screening to begin their examinations.
(d) Candidates recommended by the SSB and declared medically fit, will be issued joining letter for training in the order of merit, depending on the number of vacancies available, subject to meeting all eligibility criteria.
Merit List:
The ssb interview does not guarantee final selection even after passing it. The evaluation for selection depends entirely on the marks earned during the ssb interview. Qualifications beyond the interview and earlier performances play no role in this evaluation.
