The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection Probationary Officer (IBPS PO) Exam is conducted to recruit the Probationary Officers (PO) for various public sector banks in India. It is one of the most competitive banking exams and it consists of the three stages as:

  1. Preliminary Examination
  2. Main Examination
  3. Interview

Syllabus

The syllabus contains the three section as English language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability.

English Language contains cloze test, Error detection, sentence rearrangement and fill in the blanks. In the Quantitative aptitude it contains number series, simplification and approximation, data interpretation, profit and loss, time, speed and distance. Reasoning Ability contains seating arrangement, puzzles, coding decoding, blood relations, syllogism and direction sense.

Main Examination

The main exam evaluate candidates on banking knowledge, data analysis and reasoning skills. It contains total 5 modules Reasoning and Computer aptitude in which logical and analytical reasoning, puzzle based problems, input output, basic of computer hardware and software. General Economy and Banking Awareness contains banking terminologies, RBI policies and functions, budget and economy survey, financial market awareness etc. English language module contains advanced reading comprehension, vocabulary, sentence correction para jumbles and cloze test. Data Analysis and Interpretation module contains data sufficiency, pie charts bar graphs and line graphs knowledge, also permutations and combinations knowledge. The last module which is the Descriptive Writing module it contains letter writing like business letters, complaints letters, and various applications. Essay writing contains topics related to banking, economy, social issues and technology related essays.

Interview

These interview process is for those candidates who qualified the Main Exam. theses candidates are called for the personal interview conducted by the participating banks. The interview is of 100 marks and candidates must score at least 40%.

The interview will focus on banking awareness and economy and current affairs i.e national and international topics also the personal and HR questions. It will also check for the communication skills and confidence of the candidates.
