IBPS PO Selection Process 2025
The IBPS PO Exam is conducted in three different stages as listed below:
- IBPS PO Prelims Exam
- IBPS PO Mains Exam
- IBPS PO Interview
Candidates needs to score minimum score in both the tests (prelims and mails) and a minimum aggregate score to be selected for the interview. Candidates must qualify both the online Mains and Interview and score high enough to be considered for final selection. Thus, the final selection is made on the basis of the marks obtained by the candidate in the IBPS PO Mains and Interview (Mains + Interview).
IBPS PO Negative Marking
In the IBPS PO objective exam, a quarter or 0.25 marks are deducted for a wrong answer. However, there is no penalty if you choose not to answer a question. This encourages you to think carefully about each question, as guessing incorrectly can reduce your score.
IBPS PO Exam Pattern 2025 for Prelims
The Prelims exam is the first stage of the IBPS PO 2025. This is the screening round and the details of the IBPS PO Exam Pattern 2025 has been discussed here for the candidates.
- The Prelims examination phase of IBPS PO will consist of three sections of 1 hour each.
- There will be a total of 100 multiple choice questions.
- Candidates will have to qualify in all the three tests with a minimum cut-off score as fixed by IBPS.

IBPS PO Exam Pattern 2025 for Mains
The mains examination is the second stage of the IBPS PO Exam 2025. To be eligible for the mains exam stage candidates have to qualify for the Prelims examination.
- Introduction of Descriptive Paper: Candidates’ writing skills will be assessed through essay and letter, totaling 25 marks to be completed in 30 minutes.
- Negative Marking: A penalty of 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer in the objective test.
- Revised Time for Mains: The total time for IBPS PO 2025 Main Objective Test has been increased from 140 minutes to 180 minutes, with an additional 30 minutes given for the descriptive test, making the total duration 3 hours 30 minutes.
- Division of Sections: The tests on Reasoning Ability and Computer Aptitude, English Language and Data Analysis and Interpretation are divided into Section A and Section B. All questions in both sections are compulsory, some questions are of 2 marks and others of 1 mark.
- Computer Applications and Reasoning: There will be no separate paper for Computer Applications. Instead, the Computer Aptitude and Logic section has been merged, which has 45 questions for a total of 60 marks.

IBPS PO Descriptive Test
IBPS has included a descriptive test of 25 marks in the PO Mains exam. Candidates will have to write an essay of 25 marks and a letter. The English language paper is to assess the writing skills of the candidates and it is mandatory to pass this paper by securing a minimum cut-off.
IBPS PO Interview 2025
After the selected candidates in online main examination for CRP- PO/MT-XIV will be called for an Interview to be conducted by the Participating Organization and coordinated by the Nodal Bank in each State/ UT with the help of IBPS. Interviews will be held at selected centers.
- The total marks for IBPS PO interview are 100.
- The minimum qualifying marks in the interview should not be less than 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWBD candidates).
- The weightage (ratio) of IBPS PO Online Mains and Interview will be 80:20 respectively.
- The aggregate final score of the candidates will be calculated based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the Online Mains and Interview of CRP- PO/MT-XIV.
- The candidate should qualify both in the Online Mains and Interview and his/her merit should be high enough to be selected for the subsequent provisional allotment process.
