This article covers the syllabus and selection process of the income tax inspector examination which is conducted by the Staff selection commission. This article covers how the selection process will be and and what will be the exam pattern for the examination. Let’s understand this in detail.

The income tax inspector examination is conducted as a part of the staff selection commission and CGL i.e. Combined graduate level examination. This is a highly competitive exam who will qualify that exam are appointed as a income tax officer in the central board of Direct Taxes. 

Selection Process For Income Tax Inspector Exam 

In this section we will know about the selection process of the exam, how exactly the selection of candidates will be done. This examination consists of multiple stages such as Tier-1, Tier-2, Tier-3, Tier-4 and at last document verification and final merit list.

  • Tier 1: Computer Based Test
  • Tier 2: Main Exam
  • Tier 3: Descriptive Exam
  • Tier 4: Skill Test

Tier-1 exam is Preliminary exam, this is the MCQ based examination containing multiple sections such as general Intelligence, general aptitude, quantitative aptitude, and English. Mains exam is called as tier-2 exam it contains two important satges such as quantitative ability and English language. 

Tier-3 will be the descriptive paper pen and paper based exam where candidates must have to write the essay, letter or precis. This paper simply test the candidates writing skills in English and Hindi language. Computer Based Test/ Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) is a tier-4 test. And after that the document verification will be done and final merit list will be displayed. 

Syllabus For Income Tax Inspector Exam 

In this section we are going to know about the syllabus for the examination at each tier the subjects and topics will be there, lets understand it one  by one.
Preliminary Exam Tier-1 

It contains different topics which contains General Intelligence & Reasoning it includes  Analogies, coding-decoding, blood relations, number series, syllogisms, logical deductions, and pattern recognition. General Awareness includes topics as Current affairs, Indian history, geography, Indian polity, economic developments, and important government schemes. Quantitative Aptitude includes topics as  Simplification, percentages, ratio & proportion, data interpretation, profit & loss, time & work, speed & distance, and number series.

And the English Comprehension includes topics as Reading comprehension, synonyms & antonyms, sentence correction, idioms & phrases, and fill-in-the-blanks.

Mains Exam Tier-2

It also contains different topics which are as Quantitative Abilities including Advanced mathematics topics such as algebra, trigonometry, geometry, mensuration, and data interpretation.

English Language & Comprehension includes Essay writing, passage-based questions, direct & indirect speech, active & passive voice, and vocabulary-based questions.

Descriptive Paper Tier-3

This paper includes essay writing on various topics, letter writing which includes both formal and informal. 

The final selection of candidates is based on the all three tiers results. after the selection the candidates document verification will be done and the training will start.
