JKSET Exam Pattern 2025

From the below sections, candidates will also get information about JKSET Exam Pattern 2025. This examination will consist of two papers. Both papers are in offline mode. The questions in Paper-1 are intended to assess the candidate’s teaching/research ability. It will primarily be designed to test the candidate’s reasoning ability, reading comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness for 100 marks. Duration is 60 minutes. Paper-2 is related subjects for 200 marks. Duration is 120 minutes.

The structure and scheme of question papers for SET is adopted as prescribed for NET conducted by UGC/CSIR/NTA. Each subject will have two papers. Both the papers will have objective type questions only (a) Multiple Choice, (b) Matching, (c) Assertion and Reasoning and (d) True and False. This test will be conducted in two separate sessions on a single day. Following are the detailed information of the papers.

Type of Paper Common for all the candidates. The questions in Paper-I intend to assess the teaching/ research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test the reasoning ability, reading comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness of the candidate. Subject-specific questions. This shall be based on the subject selected by the candidate and will assess domain knowledge.

Marking scheme 2 marks for each correct response and no marks for un-answered/ un-attempted questions. There shall be no negative marking for wrong answers.
Language of paper English & Hindi English except for the subjects of Languages where it will be in the respective language.

Unit-I: Teaching Aptitude

  • Teaching: Concept, objectives, levels of teaching (memory, understanding and reflection), characteristics and basic requirements
  • Learner’s characteristics: Characteristics of adolescent and adult learners (academic, social, emotional and cognitive), individual differences
  • Factors affecting teaching related to: Teacher, Learner, Support material, Instructional facilities, Learning environment and Institution
  • Methods of teaching in higher learning institutions: Teacher-centred vs learner-centred methods; offline vs online methods (Swayam, Swayamprabha, MOOCs, etc.).
  • Teaching support system: Traditional, modern and ICT based
  • Evaluation systems: Elements and types of evaluation, evaluation in Choice Based Credit Systems in higher education, computer-based testing, innovations in evaluation systems

Unit-II: Research Aptitude

  • Research: Meaning, types, and characteristics, positivism and post-positivistic approach to research
  • Methods of research: Experimental, descriptive, historical, qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Steps of research Thesis and article writing: Format and styles of referencing Application of ICT in research Research ethics

Unit-III: Comprehension A passage of text is given. Questions are asked from the passage which need to be answered.

Unit-IV: Communication

  • Communication: Meaning, types and characteristics of communication Effective

Unit-V:

  • Mathematical Reasoning and Aptitude Types of reasoning Number series, letter series, codes and relationships Mathematical aptitude (fraction, time & distance, ratio, proportion and percentage, profit and loss, interest and discounting, averages etc.)

Unit-VI: Logical Reasoning

  • Understanding the structure of arguments: Argument forms, structure of categorical propositions, mood and figure, formal and informal fallacies, uses of language, connotations and denotations of terms, the classical square of opposition Evaluating and distinguishing deductive and inductive reasoning Analogies
