SSC MTS Exam-Overview
SSC MTS Exam is a computer based examination which is divided into 2 mandatory sessions:
- Session I: This session has two sections – Numerical and Mathematical Ability, and Reasoning Ability and Problem Solving. There are 20 questions in each section, total 40 questions carrying 120 marks. Also candidates should note that there is no negative marking for the incorrect question in this session.
- Session II: This session has 25 questions each on General Knowledge and English Language and Comprehension. This session has total 50 questions and 150 marks, in this session there is a negative marking of 1 mark for each incorrect answer.
Both sessions are 45 minutes each and it is mandatory to attempt both; failure to do so will result in disqualification. The syllabus covers four key subjects namely, Numerical & Mathematical Ability, Reasoning Ability & Problem Solving, General Awareness, and English Language & Comprehension. SSC MTS Exam Pattern 2025 (Expected)

SSC MTS Paper I Revised Exam Pattern
The updated SSC MTS Paper-1 exam pattern was introduced in the SSC MTS Notification 2025 and mentioned in the table below.
- The computer-based examination will consist of two sessions, Session-1 and Session-2, and candidates are required to attempt both sessions.
- Failure to attempt any session will lead to disqualification.
- In Session 2, 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer, whereas in Session 1 there will be no negative marks.

SSC MTS Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/ Physical Standard Test (PST)
The SSC MTS Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) are essential for candidates applying for the Havaldar position, evaluating their physical fitness and attributes such as height, chest expansion, and weight. These tests ensure that candidates can meet the physical requirements of the job, maintain operational effectiveness and safety. SSC MTS Syllabus 2025 (Expected)
SSC MTS Syllabus 2025 will be announced by Staff Selection Commission along with the official recruitment notification. Like the previous years’ syllabus, this exam will be conducted in CBE format with Paper 1 and Paper 2. The syllabus includes the following 4 subjects –
