Written Exam Pattern
Th exam is of total 300 marks with the 100 questions with the duration of 2 hours containing the four sections as general awareness, verbal ability i.e. English numerical ability, reasoning and military aptitude. And there will be the negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer.
Exam Syllabus
General Awareness section encompasses a range of topics such as History, the Indian Freedom Struggle and major battles, and Geography, both Indian and world geography and climate studies. Candidates are also examined in Current Affairs, national and international events, Science & Technology developments, Sports, and Defence-related information.
The Verbal Ability section in English tests for comprehension abilities, error identification, sentence completion and correction, synonyms and antonyms, and idioms and phrases. This section tests candidates’ command of the English language, which is very important in communication within the Air Force.
Numerical Ability is another critical section that consists of subjects like Time & Distance, Ratio & Proportion, Average, Profit & Loss, Speed, Time & Work, Number System & Simplification, and Clocks & Calendar. This section assesses the candidate’s mathematical skill and problem-solving ability.
The Reasoning & Military Aptitude section tests Spatial Ability, Verbal & Non-Verbal Reasoning, Coding & Decoding, Blood Relations, Figure Classification, and Logical Venn Diagrams. This part aims to evaluate a candidate’s ability to think , spot patterns, and make decisions. These skills play a key role in military operations.
Candidates who want to join the Technical Branch must also take the Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT). The EKT covers different topics depending on the field:
Mechanical candidates need to know about Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, and Materials Science. Computer Science applicants should understand Operating Systems, Networking, and Software Engineering. Electrical & Electronics hopefuls must grasp Circuit Theory, Analog & Digital Electronics.
