TNPSC Group 2 Exam 2025 consists of Prelims and Mains and Interview (for Group 2 posts only). The preliminary examination contains 300 marks and 100 marks for main paper and 300 marks for paper 2. Candidates must achieve 90 marks in the preliminary exam and scores 25 marks in each section of the main paper.

TNPSC Group 2 Prelims Exam Pattern 2025

Before going to the syllabus, check the detailed pattern of Prelims and Mains. Prelims exam is only to select the candidates who are not serious from the selection process. Candidates must score at least 90 marks in Prelims exam to meet eligibility criteria since it serves as a qualifying test. We have emphasized the critical points of TNPSC Group 2 Prelims Exam in this discussion.

  • Questions from General Tamil/General English, Aptitude and Mental Ability Test will be of S.S.L.C. Standard level
  • Questions from General Studies will be of Degree Standard level
  • All questions will be bilingual i.e., they are available in both the English and Tamil languages.
  • The minimum qualifying mark for the TNPSC Prelims Exam is 90 out of 30

TNPSC Group 2 Mains Exam Pattern 2025

Candidates who clear the prelims will proceed to the mains exam, which is divided into two parts: Paper I and Paper II. Candidates securing minimum qualifying marks in Paper I will be assessed for Paper II only. The TNPSC Group 2 Mains examination contains two different papers known as Paper 1 and Paper 2. The qualifying nature belongs to Paper 2 but Paper 2 operates as a scoring and qualifying format.

  • The marks secured in the Mains exam will be considered for the final merit list
  • Paper 1 is only qualifying in nature. Those who qualify for Paper I, their Paper II sheet will be evaluated
  • Minimum 102 and 90 marks are required to qualify in group 2 and group 2A main exams respectively
  • The TNPSC Group 2 exam is bilingual and available in both the English and Tamil languages
